How We Work

he Business Professional Network has existed since 1997 to link Christian business people in the West with believing nationals in business in developing nations, nations closed to the Gospel, and regions of high unemployment and poverty.

This is accomplished in the developing nations through a local network consisting of the following:

  • a local organization to provide the training, disperse and collect loan funds, and oversee mentoring and accountability for the entrepreneurs;
  • an advisory committee that includes several senior, respected Christian business leaders in the country who will select, encourage, and coach the entrepreneurs;
  • a group of Godly entrepreneurs with demonstrated business skill and proven commitment to their church and the work of the Gospel in their country. The BPN takes responsibility for setting up these networks in these countries according to best practices that have been proven effective, wise, and necessary.

In the U.S., the BPN organizes Business Development Groups, or BDGs (Request the brochure, “Changing Lives through Business”), which consist of 8-12 men and women within a local church or a chapter of a marketplace ministry or a discipleship group. By sharing their know-how, their networks, their capital (in collateralized loans), and their concern, Christians in the 1st World can participate in discipling national business leaders in needy parts of the world.

These business owners and managers will then be able to provide quality goods and services needed in their communities, create new jobs, and pay wages and generate profits that will benefit the Kingdom of God, and gain a standing within their communities so their lives can be a witness for Christ in many new ways. Small and medium size businesses are the next step beyond micro-credit programs. It is in this size business that permanent jobs are created and self-sustaining enterprises are established. Present history shows that Christians in these roles gain wide respect within their countries and have unlimited opportunities to share their Christian values.
